The export of the national children’s toy industry has increased over the past three years. Shipments of children’s toy products exceeded US$320 million during 2018 and then jumped to US$343 million or the equivalent of Rp.4.8 trillion in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, this industry actually involved many workers, even tens of thousands of people who depended on the children’s toy industry. “Our potential is 131 units of children’s toy businesses on a medium and large industrial scale. The business unit sold more than 36 thousand people. This means that this labor-intensive sector is one that has an export orientation,” explained Agus in his statement, Wednesday (16\/6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister of Industry also welcomed the launch of the Bima S toy as the work of the nation’s children which should be followed by other companies. The toy is said to have been born from the Bima S series produced by MNC Animation. “The steps taken by the MNC Group in introducing this new product are expected to stimulate and encourage the domestic children’s toy industry to continue to develop,” added the Minister of Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Agus suggested that product quality must be in accordance with the implementation of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for children’s toys, which is mandatory. Regarding efforts to boost exports of national toy products, Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry Gati Wibawaningsih stated that the service had collaborated with the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI). In addition to facilitating the Ease of Import for Export Purposes (KITE). “This is an opportunity for SMEs to expand their export market by expediting their production process,” he said.
